Kinnect Leadership Update

The new year has proven to be a wonderful time for us to reflect on all that we have achieved together since Kinnect was founded in 2005. It has also reminded us to focus on our most critical priorities for 2020 and beyond and consider the resources needed for success.

Our 30 Days to Family® Ohio program is being delivered in 14 counties throughout Ohio and leading to 70% of children served being placed with kinship caregivers. Since 2018, this program’s scaling required us to increase our Kinnect staff to 18 professionals throughout the state. Our next phase of programming – designing and delivering on the statewide Ohio Kinship and Adoption Navigator program – will require us to hire and onboard another two-dozen-plus talented staff members. In other words, WE’RE HIRING! And we’re thrilled to have this tremendous opportunity to meaningfully shape the way that children and families are supported throughout the state. It is quite an honor.

This new challenge will require us to enhance our operational effectiveness – where all Kinnect staffers know what our priorities are, how each person and partner organization fits into achieving those priorities, and how our leadership team is going to support them.

We – the co-founders and Board of Directors – agreed recently that Shannon Deinhart was the right leader to be the Executive Director to bring our organization into this new era. Mike Kenney will continue to do what he does best – build relationships with partners, donors, and child welfare advocates – as the Director of Advancement.

We don’t expect that you, our partners, will experience any difference in your interactions with Kinnect as a result of these changes but we felt it was important that you heard from us about these changes as well as the investments we are making to achieve our shared goal of strengthening families and achieving permanency for children throughout Ohio.

We’re as committed as ever to strengthening families directly impacted by the foster care system.  We’re excited and energized by the work ahead and we thank you for all the support you given us over the years.

Best regards,

Shannon Deinhart, Executive Director

Mike Kenney, Director of Advancement

Julia Hornack, President of the Board of Directors
